Claudine DeSola of CARAVAN STYLIST STUDIO has teamed up with Tabitha St. Bernard to create a small capsule collection that will officially launch during NYFW with a pop up atelier at The Gregory Hotel. It will consist of two styles that have been tested by Tabitha, that are also zero waste designs. This isn’t the first time the two teamed up they have worked in the past on looks for Danielle Brooks from Orange is the New Black for a premiere party and Emma Rose Kenney from Shameless for a fashion week party.
This event will be open to the public. Guests that are interested will be able to purchase a dress by choosing fabric and being able to see their dress created at the atelier live utilizing Brother sewing machines so that guests can see the process of dressmaking. The goal during the New York Fashion Week event is to just build excitement and true inclusivity for those that love fashion.
“Caravan is an experiential space and that is in our DNA to create something out of the box for our guests to experience real time. If we are to create some clothing pieces with our name on them we want to also create an experience around that clothing. The idea of these events are to be a celebration of the creation of a dress from start to finish and for guests to observe that process. There will also be time for interaction with the designers and an opportunity to learn more about some of the educational opportunities that are available from NYC Fashion M.A.D.E.” Claudine DeSola.
During the events, guests will be able to network & chat with Tabitha and Claudine and ask questions and give feedback. They will be able to also hear Tabitha’s approach to creating a zero waste collection.
“Designing beautiful clothing that is also kind to the environment is what continuously inspires me to create zero waste designs. By not wasting any fabric, my intentionality with design becomes a welcome restriction. I know that my line not only helps women feel at one with their style, it also brings awareness to the fact that we are citizens of the earth and there is responsibility with that privilege.” Tabitha St. Bernard.
To celebrate the future of fashion even more, CARAVAN x TABII is teaming up with NYC Fashion M.A.D.E. (Manufacturers Alliance of Design Educators). NYC Fashion M.A.D.E. supports the teaching of garment manufacturing and technological skills to the fashion community. The mission is to educate the next generation of manufacturers with industrial skills and technological innovation. The organization seeks to fill this gap by enhancing the knowledge of existing workers, introducing innovations to the industry and teaching future generations.
“To ensure the lasting nature of this educational process, the individual manufacturing steps will be filmed so that a digital archive remains for those who wish to learn the same skills in the future.” Anthony Lilore
“For so long, production has been outsourced. At the BF+DA we’re reimagining garment manufacturing to include both local and advanced manufacturing while merging it with sustainable design systems. The Brooklyn Fashion + Design Accelerator is a hub for ethical fashion and design that provides designers with the resources they need to transform their ideas into successful businesses.” Tara St. James, Brooklyn Fashion + Design Accelerator

To see now, guests will be able to check out two styles that are part of the buy now program and other special styles that were created with some of the actresses that Caravan Stylist Studio works with in mind. The collection was left small on purpose as part of less waste idea. The special styles will be a few red carpet type pieces that are to show the future range of the collection. The whole collection was inspired by “Color Therapy”. There is not just a fabric story, it is more about color and how an individual vibes to particular colors.
To buy now, there will be two styles to choose from and the consumer will choose from some excess fabric. Any fabric that is not used for the design of the dress will be later turned into sachets and scarves.
To make now, guests will be walked through the process on how their dress will be made from patternmaking, cutting, sewing and finishing details.
To wear now, guests will be able to try on dresses and dance around in them again.

Tabitha St. Bernard of Tabii Just
Tabitha spent her first 18 years on the Caribbean island of Trinidad. She moved to NYC during the winter of 2001 and immediately wished she had packed the sun. At 25, amidst a quarter-life crisis, Tabitha enrolled in and studied Fashion Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She went on to work in the corporate fashion industry before launching her brand, Tabii Just in 2012. With a beginner’s knowledge of responsible living, Tabitha pledged to become a lifelong student of conscientious living and surround herself with women who rock the world with each step. She often waxes poetic on panel discussions about zero waste, responsibility in consumption and local production.
In 2015, NYC Fashion M.A.D.E. was established with the support of local fashion companies Elie Tahari and MILLY. Both brands appeared on Project Runway and donated all proceeds from the winning looks to our 501c3.

We were located at the perfect location for the models hair and makeup, glamming them up at Caravan prior to the fashion presentation. For the models hair we wanted to keep it organic and full of body and volume. We used OGX Coconut Curls Cream for one of the models hair to refresh her already fab curls and for the other model we used a bit of OGX O2 Lifting Tonic and OGX Elevated Finish Spray and curled her hair and let it set with the Olivia Garden Double Clips to create the all day body and curls to her golden locks.
The makeup look for the models was fresh and youthful with a pop of berry for the lips and a winged cat eye. We used the MustaeV Lip Palette to blend the perfect shade of berry for each of the models, and for the eyes we used the MustaeV Smudge Proof Catwalk Gel Liner to give the eyes a deep black winged liner look. A model is never done without a little bronzing from Fake Bake Tinted Body Glow.
