Julia Murney played Elphaba in the the leading role in the hit musical “Wicked“. She came to us for her glamour needs for her two Drama Desk events. Not only was she attending theses gala events in style but she was the presenter for the awards show. And when all eyes were on her she knew just where to go to make sure she looked her best.
For Julia’s first event she wore a beautiful blue dress by Lotus Grace. For her hair we went with a pulled back high set ponytail with a top layer of hair lifted and wrapped around the ponytail while keeping her bangs down and forward. We started with a little bit of Salon Grafix Healthy Hair Nutrition Restyler to give her hair a protective layer against heated styling tools. We gave her hair a sleekness to it with Babyliss Pro flat iron and with a few sprays of Salon Grafix ChromaLogica High Gloss Hair Spray her hair was looking fantastic. Taking her hair and gathering almost all of it except the very top portion where the bangs started and continued to where the ponytail was. Using the loose hair and giving it a little back combing to add an extra element of height and texture to the ponytail. With a few bobbypins to hold down the gather that top hair and one more spray of ChromaLogica High Gloss Hair Spray her hair was done. The makeup for this look was fresh and minimal. With just a bit of POP Beam Base Primer all over to give her skin that dewey fresh glow her complexion was glowing. For eyes we did a nude shimmer shade of shadow and a blended black liner along her lash line and a few coats of mascara. Keeping in the natural field we dusted her cheeks with the Butterfly Bronzer and stained her lips with a natural pink.
Julia’s second event she was the presenter for the Drama Desk Awards show. She wore a stunning silver number by THEIA. We wanted to go all out for this look and take her to the next level. For Julia’s hair we wanted to go with the back of it down and give it large curls while keeping the top gathered near the crown of her head with small twisted sections of the hair. For the lower loose section of hair we used the Babyliss Pro ConiCurl for a natural beautiful curls. With Salon Grafix Freezing Hair Spray for that no-budge all day wearable style. With Julia’s makeup we used POP Beauty to get her red carpet look. For her eyes we went with a dramatic grey smokey look and the Monochromatic eye pallet for all the perfect shades. Since we did a dramatic eye we wanted to keep the lip neutral with a natural pink shade. We had a bit of fun when it came to her nails using Zoya Nail Polish in a silver shade and taking a teal polish and painting some wispy swipes of color on the tips add a few jewels and this look was done from head to toe.
