Eliza J collection for preview

This past week we had a very successful press preview event where editors and bloggers came to the studio to meet designers showcasing their Holiday/Resort collections where they could chat with them about loans from their collection for events, shoots and other happenings. Caravan is a creative space bringing people together to network, share ideas and to influence each other in a positive way. It is a catalyst for creativity in the heart of the Fashion District bringing together talent in many genres including, Fashion, Photography, Art, Writing, and more. The goal is to have talent help talent and I think we accomplished just that with this great event! We would like to give a special thank you to all of the talented designers who took part in attending our event including Bobi Collections, Dana Maxx, Eliza J, Marti, Rae, Synderela and Taylor. All of your Holiday/Resort collections were just phenomenal and I know we weren’t the only ones who thought so! We would like to give another special thank you to the very generous brands who provided gifting goodies and beauty finds to the bloggers/editors who attended including Aeropostale, Boy Meets Girl, BB Dakota, Buji Baja, I Am Black Sheep, Kensie, Lost For Her, Nautica, RM Brand, Brit, Caboodles, Babyliss Pro, and DDF Skincare. And lastly another special thank you to Arrojo for providing a fabulous Braid Bar to all of the attendees to come and get their hair braided! It was a rainy few days and I know we all appreciated Arrojo  using Babyliss Pro giving us that extra boost of hair help in that lousy weather, the braids came out amazing!

Melora Hardin Visits Caravan for Upfronts!

Melora Hardin, formerly of The Office, and now starring in a new show coming to TBS this fall called The Wedding Band, stopped by to visit Caravan during the TBS Upfronts, and we think, was pleasantly surprised with all the fun stuff we had here in the studio.

Melora browsed our racks and picked out many pieces that she fell in love with like this amazing Desigual jacket, that matched the outfit she wore to the studio that day. We also loved  these awesome Cotton Dittos cropped jeans that we styled with this peach MNG by Mango blazer, a colorful Buji Baja scarf, and these sparkly Michael Antonio hot pink wedges. Once we were done playing dress up with her, she chose this ready to wear Turquoise dress by Karen Klein to go straight to her shows rehearsal that evening. We threw a lovely white silk flower from Custom Fabric Flowers in her hair and told her about this amazing company that has so much heritage in the Fashion District. Melora sat down with our beauty expert for a hair touch up and got some really nice waves with the Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium Curling Wand and picked up a few DDF products along with a Neat Freak Caboodle that she chose as her favorite to pack all of her beauty goods in. She was set, and so thankful!

From Modern to Mod

Sixties glamour is almost like its own entity. Just mentioning the sixties makes any girl swoon with thoughts of Mad Men classic beauty or Twiggy’s enduring style. So, it is all too easy to let yourself fall into the gorgeous sixties daydream. For work after a morning of shopping, I channeled the early sixties. When the fifties silhouette was still the epitome of chic, but the Youth Quake was quickly approaching. This peach printed Just Taylor dress is light and fun having the feel of a classic sixties woman. Of course, no look is complete without the perfect hair, soft curls from a 2 inch Babyliss Pro curling iron teased and lifted -thanks to a Bump It and a fog of Rusk Being Sexy hairspray- to perfection. With a very era-inspired look it is important to keep that cool and modern girl vibe by adding some young, fun accessories, the R&Em handbags are always a shock of cool, especially this great carry-all with its unique hardware to match the simple and cute We Dream In Colour necklace. With a big skirt like this, these bright Report Signature sandals are needed to both make this feel a little more modern and to lengthen the leg under such a full skirt.

For a night of glamour, another beautiful Just Taylor dress captures the feel of the late sixties when Twiggy was the choice cover girl and thanks to the fashion revolution that was ensuing and the mini skirt was becoming a staple. Twiggy’s eyes are one of her most memorable features. I tried to get her iconic Mod look with some heavy eyeliner and a lot of Ulta makeup remover on Q-tips, for mistakes and to get some symmetry. With liquid liner like this, you have to be careful with the rest of your makeup not to look overdone. Light taupe eye shadow deepens the eyebrows and frames the eyes and a light natural lip intensifies the dramatic look. Another pair of Report Signature shoes made this just sexy enough for a night event, but the beaded Buji Baja bracelets and fun cocktail ring by Accessory Artists make it young and fresh. Then to top it all off a Michelle Vale clutch to give it a party feel and obviously hold touch-up make up to keep this looks going long into the night. Dressing my way through the sixties, I can easily see why Mod glamour lives on, because it is always fun to try to capture that sexy and chic allure.

Bright Colored Accessories that will make your Spring Wardrobe Pop!

Every girl should always remember with spring weather like this you should never go out without two things, sunscreen and at least a few bright accessories! With the sun finally melting away winter, it is time to toss those sweaters into storage and shake your style up for what promises to be an amazing spring. The easiest way to make this flirty Walter dress, that our lovely Jackie is wearing, even better is a flock of new spring accessories. Don’t let your spring get boring with the same dull colored accessories. Get excited for spring with accessories that really grab attention like a splash of neon with these Buji Baja bags, R&Em Handbags, Buji Baja beaded jewelry and of course the perfectly matching Hat Attack hats. Accessories should be more than just a cute pair of shoes, even though these Report Signature shoes do speak for themselves, it is the whole head to toe look from hats to jewelry and even some light scarfs. Add a little interest with a few We Dream in Color jewels or grab a smart, boldly colored Caboodles bag to keep all your things together, because a few electrifying accessories make every day feel like a perfectly sunny day.
