Eliza J collection for preview

This past week we had a very successful press preview event where editors and bloggers came to the studio to meet designers showcasing their Holiday/Resort collections where they could chat with them about loans from their collection for events, shoots and other happenings. Caravan is a creative space bringing people together to network, share ideas and to influence each other in a positive way. It is a catalyst for creativity in the heart of the Fashion District bringing together talent in many genres including, Fashion, Photography, Art, Writing, and more. The goal is to have talent help talent and I think we accomplished just that with this great event! We would like to give a special thank you to all of the talented designers who took part in attending our event including Bobi Collections, Dana Maxx, Eliza J, Marti, Rae, Synderela and Taylor. All of your Holiday/Resort collections were just phenomenal and I know we weren’t the only ones who thought so! We would like to give another special thank you to the very generous brands who provided gifting goodies and beauty finds to the bloggers/editors who attended including Aeropostale, Boy Meets Girl, BB Dakota, Buji Baja, I Am Black Sheep, Kensie, Lost For Her, Nautica, RM Brand, Brit, Caboodles, Babyliss Pro, and DDF Skincare. And lastly another special thank you to Arrojo for providing a fabulous Braid Bar to all of the attendees to come and get their hair braided! It was a rainy few days and I know we all appreciated Arrojo  using Babyliss Pro giving us that extra boost of hair help in that lousy weather, the braids came out amazing!

Sharon Carpenter Visits Caravan!

Sharon Carpenter, a journalist, stopped by Caravan to get ready before the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the celebration of the Queen’s 60 year rule. Sharon wanted a look that was elegant and classy, and we couldn’t have agreed more. Once we applied our favorite mixture of DDF product to fully prep her skin, the Amplifying Elixir, Ultra-Lite Oil-Free Moisturizing Dew, and the Wrinkle Resist Plus Pore Minimizer(a must-have), we talked about makeup options. We decided to go with a super smoky eye and a light coral lip, paired with a shimmering bronzer.

For her hair we wanted her to have a ton of volume, so we started with a bouncy blowout using our Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium Blow Dryer, and set each section on pins to secure a substantial amount of height within the style. We fell in love with this romantically swept bang, half up half down do, that we saw on Pinterest. There are a lot of cool ideas on there for hair makeup and fashion. We pinned just the front pieces back and swept the front bang across creating a really Mad Men inspired look. We sent her home with a complete set of DDF products, including the Revolve Micro Polishing System.

Sharon was pleased and such a pleasure to have in the studio as always. We hope to see her soon.

Up, Up, and Away!! Fun Ways To Beat The Heat!

As you gear up for your summer plans, keep in mind these helpful hints that will surely keep you in fashion’s good graces. Before anything, make sure you go and get yourself an awesomely renovated Caboodle Traincase. It will transport all of your summer necessities from point A to point B in style.

The summer sun brings many things, one obviously being the HEAT! But as girls of fashion we aim to be as cute as possible despite the unpredictable elements. There are so many fun options when it comes to summer hair and makeup. First things first, lay off the foundation and pick up that bronzer! Lay off the neutrals, and pick up those neons! Summer is all about glowing in the sun! Yes, those rays can be harmful, but as long as you have your DDF skincare regimen underway you will avoid any and all facial flaws. DDF has an amzing sunscreen called the Weightless Defence Oil-Free Hydrator, which has an SPF 45 paired with the Wrinkle Resist Plus Pore Minimizer preparing you for a day in the sun. Both can be worn under your makeup, so you are fully covered and protected from those horrible aging effects the sun is famous for. The DDF Revolve is another must-have! It will remove any and all dead skin from sun-bathing.

When deciding your look for the day, there is one major thing to take into account: Eyes or lips? You must pick!  As young women we learn less is more.. Nothing has changed! A face full of makeup screams clown not classy. We all  like to have a little fun, but don’t go overboard! The bright colors are so appealing, but can also be blinding. You must decide where you want the focus to be. Makeup is all about enhancing your features, not exploiting them.

Pinks, oranges and bright reds are crazy this season for the lips, so be bold and go for it! Make Up Forever has some awesome bright colors that will literally last all day! So check them out, they are truly a favorite of ours.

Teals, yellows and blues are really cool shades for those lighter eyed beauties. While, greens, golds and oranges are perfectly paired with brown or hazel eyes. Just because they make it, doesn’t mean it works with your eye color, so be shade savvy when selecting your eye shadows and lip colors.

On the other hand, dare to bare your more natural side, with a touch of mascara, blush and slight eyebrow shading. Take a chance and try something new. We are!

Hair is the easy part. Basically the less work you put in to it, the more carefree and cool you will look. A simple pony tail, or even pigtails can be transformed into something simply amazing!

High buns are really popular this summer as well, not only for it’s comfort level, but they are uber chic. The height of your bun all depends on your head shape. Use your best judgment when positioning it. If it looks awkward to you, then it definitely looks awkward to everyone else. Confidence is your best asset! So if you feel good, you look good! Low ponytails are another way to beat the heat. A cute side bang, and slight teasing in the crown adds a little glamour to the everyday ponytail. Covering the hair band with a few strands and securing it with a bobby pin helps as well. This Mary Kate style is so easy to accomplish at home. Start by braiding your hair in to pigtails and pin them accordingly around your head the way a crown would. The fishtail, which is one of our favorites this season, is a little harder to explain. Definitely check out some YouTube videos on that, but we promise, once you learn you will never forget. Of course, those blessed women with natural waves have it the easiest in the summer. So for you girls a touch of the Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium Curling Wand is all you need to take your look from undone to polished and playful.

When in doubt, accessorize! A cute flower, or floral headband can be paired with a messy up-do or flowing waves. A good point of reference is channeling your inner goddess. She is in there, we promise! Have fun and be brave this summer.

They were a complete ball to have in the studio,  always so much fun. Toni tried on so many things and looked great in every piece. Especially this floral laced Reddoll fitted cocktail dress. She also really liked this Eva Franco dress that puts a new spin on the little black dress with this inlaid lace pattern down the front that gives your body attention in all the right places. We styled it with this red patten leather Nina clutch which looked perfect together. She wore a camel colored magnetic leather bracelet by SEAH on her way out, that she loved for it’s compatibility with any outfit, and a pair of pink Havaiana’s which have the same versatility.

John particularly liked an awesome pair of Cotton Buffalo jeans with hanging canvas suspenders we had, that were perfect for any guy. He also was in to these Lands’ End Canvas plaid button downs.

We made sure Toni took home the DDF products she missed out on her last visit to ensure a complete DDF regime. We gave her the Revolve, the Amplifying Elixir, the Advanced Eye Firming Concentrate, and the Ultra-Lite Oil-Free Moisturizing Dew. We didn’t want John to miss out on good skincare either so we gave him the DDF Ultra-Lite Oil Free Moisturizing Dew as well and the Foaming Cleanser. Melora Hardin, formerly of The Office, and now starring in a new show coming to TBS this fall called The Wedding Band, stopped by to visit Caravan during the TBS Upfronts, and we think, was pleasantly surprised with all the fun stuff we had here in the studio.

Melora browsed our racks and picked out many pieces that she fell in love with like this amazing Desigual jacket, that matched the outfit she wore to the studio that day. We also loved  these awesome Cotton Dittos cropped jeans that we styled with this peach MNG by Mango blazer, a colorful Buji Baja scarf, and these sparkly Michael Antonio hot pink wedges. Once we were done playing dress up with her, she chose this ready to wear Turquoise dress by Karen Klein to go straight to her shows rehearsal that evening. We threw a lovely white silk flower from Custom Fabric Flowers in her hair and told her about this amazing company that has so much heritage in the Fashion District. Melora sat down with our beauty expert for a hair touch up and got some really nice waves with the Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium Curling Wand and picked up a few DDF products along with a Neat Freak Caboodle that she chose as her favorite to pack all of her beauty goods in. She was set, and so thankful!

Jenni Radosevich Gets Ready at Caravan for her Book Party!!

Jenni Radosevich of ISpyDIY.com, one of our favorite bloggers, came to Caravan for a glam session before her book party for the launch of her new book, I Spy DIY Style, which is available in stores now!!

Jenni wanted to look her absolute best for her big night and we couldn’t have agreed more. She designed this really cool skirt with feathers that she made herself in honor of her personal DIY Style, and the launch of her new book. Jenni loves the fashion district and even gave us a few tips on where to find the best deals and her favorite trim shops in the district. She commented on how much she loves her Caboodle that we had previously given her and said that she stores all of her DIY supplies inside. Jenni actually did a blog on it and you can see for yourself on her website here: http://www.ispydiy.com/2012/02/diy-storage-caboodles.html

We decided to go with her favorite hairstyle, a loose wave with a super clean face, which would surely compliment the fun flirty style of the outfit. Jenni inspired us all to go out and make ourselves a new outfit!

We started with our DDF skincare and applied the DDF Aloe Toning Complex to remove any excess makeup. We then went with the DDF Ultra-Lite Oil-Free Moisturizing Dew, and the Wrinkle Resist Plus Pore Minimizer to fully prep her for her clean face look.  We did a simple mini-cat eye, with a raspberry gloss for her perfect pout.

We started her hair with a super bouncy blowout using our Babyliss Pro Blow Dryer, then went in with our Babyliss Pro 1 and a ½ inch curling iron and wrapped each piece around the barrel and set it on hair pins while they cooled off. We then dropped them and personalized the tresses with a light Rusk Cream to distress it a bit.

She looked picture perfect, and we made sure Jenni took home a few DDF goodies. We gave her the Weightless Defense Oil Free Hydrator and the DDF Wrinkle Resist Pore Minimizer. Jenni was as sweet as always and really appreciated Caravan taking time out for her. She is on tour for her book now, so make sure you go out and get your copy, there is some really cool stuff in there! We can’t wait to have her back!!
